2025 GatorMog Holiday Party

Sebring HSR Pistons and Props Vintage Races 7 December 2025

As I sit here tonight, the rain is pouring down. Thankfully, we had no rain for our GatorMOG/MOGSouth Holiday Gathering. There are a few of us still on the road home tonight; hopefully, they will have missed the bad weather from this front, or at least driven through it quickly and safely.

My wife Sam and I arrived on Thursday ahead of most of the people, as I’d worried for a week or more about the arrangement that I’d set up by phone for the gathering. Thankfully, everyone that I’d dealt with more than fulfilled their parts of the weekend. A special thank you to Rick Goolsby, my HSR contact, Megan Petteway, my Sebring International Race contact, Jose Garcia, and Malia King at the Inn On The Lakes, where we all stayed (and partied). There were many more of their staff who helped us pull this off.

We had 8 Morgans and several more Morgan owners (without their Morgans) who joined us for the weekend. Our Florida Morgan Dealer from Daytona Beach, Christopher Silvestri, and his son JP, also attended, as Christopher is now an official HSR vendor. You can now order your 2026, 75th Anniversary Morgan Plus Four from him. All together, our group made a wonderful Morgan encampment and hopefully made a good impression on all the HSR racers and the visiting race fans.

My good friend Jim Besst came all the way from Ohio with his gorgeous 1964 +4 DHC. Joe Speetjens from Mississippi, and Erik Jordan from North Carolina were our long-distance travelers. Some old friends popped in for a visit, and some new friends who arrived somewhat unexpected, but were most welcome. If you didn’t make this Morgan gathering, I hope you will make the next one. Two of our GatorMOG members were at the event to race, Tom Coryn and Kenneth Greenberg. Tom had a good weekend racing his MGB; regrettably, Kenneth did not with his Morgan 4/4. On the first lap of Saturday’s last race, a Lotus 7 spun in front of Kenneth, sending him into the concrete wall on turn one. Kenneth is unhurt, but the Morgan was badly damaged and will need to be completely rebuilt. I’m told the team has its next race in February. They will have a lot of hard work to make it.

GatorMOG needs one of our members to help organize a weekend gathering in South Florida, on either coast, next year. Please contact me if you can help.

A Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all.
