2021 Cars and Coffee at Amelia Island – Location for the Friday Evening (Mar 5, 2021) Noggin

As is the norm, MOGSouth will have a Noggin on the Friday evening (March 5, 2021) before the Saturday Cars and Coffee event (March 6, 2021) on Amelia Island, the weekend of the big Concours d’Elegance. The Concours d’Elegance is on Sunday, March 7, 2021.

To make is easier on the masses, we have moved the Noggin a bit south, and will convene the MOGSouth Noggin around 5 PM at the Surf Restaurant, along A1A, 3199 S. Fletcher Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL.

It is the same location we use to rendezvous on Saturday morning before the Cars and Coffee event. There is parking in the lot out front as well as behind the restaurant.

We haven’t used this location for the Noggin, as yet, but the staff seems quite excited to have us. The menu looks quite good and there appears to be sufficient parking. (Click on the link above to go to their web page!)

Looking forward to the event and hope to see you there!! Mark

    • Bennett, There are really no hotels to be had on Amelia Island. They have a few with limited rooms and very, very high rates ($350 a night plus tax, with a 4 night minimum, for a Hampton? or you can stay at the Ritz?) but you are welcome to try to find one. Usually the few rooms available, go quite fast. You almost have to make reservations a year in advance.

I am actually staying at the Surf. They are a hotel as well as a Restaurant. There are others there as well. They are a lessor known hotel and may have some rooms left. Don’t know. High price, but no multi night minimum. No idea of the quality? It could be a dump. I just won’t drive after drinking.

Most of the folks stay in Jacksonville. Northeast quadrant. It is a 45 minute drive along the shore line, along FL 105, to Amelia Island and a very pretty drive up Saturday morning. I’ve stayed in Jax a good number of times, but this time I decided not to, as it dampens my ability to enjoy the noggin. I suspect those that live in Jax will stay at home. I do know there are others that will pick a hotel and probably stay in Jax somewhere, as they are too far from home.

      Cheers,
      Mark
